MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Mayor A C Wharton released a statement on the recent murder of NBA player and Memphis Tiger and native Lorenzen Wright.

Statement from Mayor A C Wharton regarding Lorenzen Wright:

"On behalf of the entire city of Memphis, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to family and friends of Lorenzen Wright. Lorenzen loved Memphis, and we are shocked and saddened by the news of his passing. His talent and competitiveness on the basketball court were outstanding, and he will be remembered fondly as a good friend and teammate. Our sympathies go out to all who knew him and loved him."
