MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Wednesday morning inside Judge Larry Potter's courtroom, the registered agent for Visions Night Club appeared at the request of Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons.
The club was temporarily shut down after Gibbons filed a public nuisance action Monday.
In the end Arthur Horne, Attorney for Visions, said the allegations are unfounded and justice will prevail. Horne stood with the club's registered agent Maria Lopez.
While outside the courtroom, fans of Visions gathered to show their support for the club. They say the club itself is being unfairly attacked.
"It's very unfair I feel like they're being targeted for no apparent reason at all," said Patron Takyia Tidwell.
"Were going to be talking to the D.A.'s office about trying to resolve this matter," said Horne.
Back inside the courtroom Judge Potter granted a request to reschedule the petition hearing. Horne said his clients and the club will fight the allegations.
"We feel like the allegations are unfounded and untrue," said Horne.
Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons temporarily shut down the club Monday morning and filed a public nuisance action he said because of continued problems at the club including shootings and other violent acts.
"We knew that for awhile that we were going to be a target by the city," said Horne.
But Horne said the club is not getting a fair shake, adding that he'll not only defend Visions but present evidence to back up their side of the story.
"Anybody that came on their parking lot, their cars were searched. They were checking i.d.'s. They were writing traffic citations. They were arresting people and this is the only night club in Memphis that was targeted and treated that way," said Horne.
Fans of Visions say they'll stand by in support, confident justice will prevail.
"I don't feel like its fair I just wish they would please re-open my favorite kick it spot," said Tidwell.
The club's court appearance was re-set for Tuesday July 27th.
