TVA Increasing Energy Rates

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - MLGW customers should keep an eye on their electric bills because it's going up August 2nd.

The TVA announced it would raise its electric rates another 1 ½ percent next month. This is the sixth consecutive month they've gone up.

That means Memphians will also see a small increase. Exactly how much, has yet to be calculated, but it could be an extra $1.50.

A TVA spokesman said the hotter June and high temperature expectations in July and August are behind the increase.
