Memphis, Tn - "I'm going to do what I can to get back my money."
Last week, William Jarvis got word his TDOT claim was denied. He sent paperwork into the state after he says a sinkhole tore up his truck last March. Jarvis says repairs took over an month and cost over five thousand dollars.
While his insurance company covered it, Jarvis is out a five hundred dollar deductable.
According to TDOT, Jarvis isn’t alone. The other two claims it received following the March 24th sinkhole were also denied.
Though TDOT admits it had a crew working on the area of I-240 near Walnut Grove the morning before the 12' x 8' sinkhole opened, it says it responded to the problem immediately, shutting down the impacted area and working crews until it was fixed.
"If there's a hole in the interstate it ain't going to be my fault. I pay my taxes for them to do their jobs. They need to do their jobs right," says Jarvis.
TDOT says Jarvis can appeal the denied claim and he says he plans to.
