MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Tennessee universities are coming under fire for selling students' information for money.
A new report said MTSU, the University of Memphis and all schools in the UT system observe the practice. It said Tennessee has made more than $20 million since 1998 selling student's information to one business alone.
One school said if a business wants it, they have to provide them with students' names and addresses, according to the state's open records law.
The solution is for students to opt out of being included in the student directory.
