MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Shelby County Sheriff candidate Bill Oldham spoke Thursday about his recent resignation.
Oldham said he stepped down Wednesday as Chief Deputy Sheriff after being contacted by a federal prosecutor. He said someone filed a complaint accusing him of breaking rules on how government employees take part in politics.
Oldham said he resigned to avoid using taxpayer money for an unnecessary lawsuit. Oldham said by resigning, the issue automatically goes away.
