MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Local law enforcement in Memphis and Shelby County announced Friday their support for Joe Ford as the Shelby County Mayor.

Representatives from the Shelby County Deputy Sheriffs Association and Memphis Police Association endorsed the candidate for mayor.

Mayor Ford was previously endorsed by AFSCME, the union that represents jailers and correctional officers at both 201 Poplar and the Shelby County Penal Farm.

The Deputy Sheriff's Association is made up of Sheriff's Deputies who patrol the streets of Shelby County, working directly under Sheriff Mark Luttrell. The Memphis Police Association jointly announced their endorsement of Ford.

As recently as Monday, the Sheriff's Association filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Mark Luttrell for what they consider illegal promotion practices.
