JACKSON, Tenn. - A West Tennessee man has been sentenced to prison in the burning of the mother of his two children.
Courtenay Darrell Robertson of Gadsden was sentenced on Monday in Jackson to consecutive terms of 35 years for aggravated arson and 20 years for attempted second-degree murder.
The 34-year-old Robertson was convicted in May.
The Jackson Sun reported Robertson's new terms will begin after he completes an eight-year sentence he's now serving in a Gibson County drug conviction.
Prosecutors said Robertson threw rubbing alcohol on Belinda Evette Jones at her Jackson apartment in November 2007, then set her on fire.
The newspaper reported that since the incident, Jones has undergone several surgeries for second-degree burns over 60 percent of her body.
