MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Shelby County Crossing Shopping Center caught fire over night damaging two businesses.

The two businesses were Subway and Bibles for China Thrift Center.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at 6188 Macon Road where they saw visible flames at a one story commercial structure. The two adjacent businesses sustained smoke, fire and water damage as a result.

Officials said the commercial structure did not have a working sprinkler system at the time of this incident. Total damage is estimated at $120,000 building and $1,000 contents.

The fire was brought under control at 2:39 a.m. and reported knocked down at 2:44 a.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries as a result of this incident.

The origin of this fire was determined to be the result of burning furniture on the exterior of the structure that ultimately extended to the commercial facility. The most probable cause is inconclusive at this time.

This fire remains under investigation.
