Herenton Agrees to Debate on FOX13

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Tennessee 9th congressional district candidate, Dr. Willie Herenton, said he's ready to debate the incumbent and to prove it, the former mayor showed up at FOX13's studios Tuesday.

Herenton signed a contract to debate Steve Cohen here at FOX13. This comes after pulling out of a debate at Channel 3-WREG.

Herenton again blasted the decision by WREG to use Norm Brewer and Otis Sanford of the Commercial Appeal as the moderators.

Herenton predicted he'll win the August 5th primary by a good margin.

Cohen, who said he will be at WREG's studios for next week's debate, never agreed to debate here at FOX13.

The incumbent said independent polling showed he has a comfortable lead in the 9th district race.
