Teen Drowns at Walnut Grove Lake

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The body of a 16-year old boy has been recovered from Walnut Grove Lake Sunday after he jumped off a boat on the 4th of July.

The incident occurred just after 6:00pm Saturday near the 8400-block of Walnut Grove. According to Memphis Police, the boy was on a family holiday outing on the lake when he jumped off the boat and did not resurface.

Shelby County rescue units, rescue dogs and MPD Harbor Patrol were called to the scene to assist in the search.

The teen's body was found Sunday afternoon. The boy was identified as Demario Tyms; family members say they do not know why he jumped off the boat.
