Deadline for Bass Pro Deal

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis Mayor A C Wharton said Tuesday was the deadline day for Bass Pro to sign a deal to be the new occupants of the Pyramid.

The outdoor retail giant has been keeping the City of Memphis on the hook for several years, and if a deal is signed today, the hope is to have a mega store open in November of 2011

The city recently promised to spend $70 million in federal money to not only fix up the pyramid, but also spruce up the pinch district around the arena.
