MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Smoke and flames ripped through an east Memphis shopping center early Friday morning.
The fire sparked just before 1:00am at the shopping center at the corner of Quince and White Station.
Crews say the blaze was centered in the HANCOCK Fabrics store.
Firefighters say it took more than an hour and a hundred firefighters to get the blaze under control.
Witnesses say flames and smoke were shooting in the air.
"I couldn't tell as far as if it was going to leave or if it was going to be an explosion, that's why I wanted to get them out of the building," said witness Mike Smith.
Nobody was hurt in the fire.
Firefighters have not determined what caused the blaze; however, initial reports from the scene suggest that a car may have hit a gas main.
