SELMER, Tenn. - Police say an 82-year-old Selmer woman, whose body was found Saturday in her home, had been stabbed.
A report by the Selmer Police Department said officers found JoEtta McClain's body in a living room recliner. The Jackson Sun quoted the report, which stated it appeared McClain was "stabbed multiple times with a sharp object, possibly a knife."
One of McClain's neighbors, 51-year-old Sharrie Denise Savage, has been arrested in her slaying. She was arraigned Thursday in McNairy County General Sessions Court on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary and evidence tampering.
Authorities believe robbery was the motive. A judge set Savage's bail at $1 million. She was being held in the McNairy County Jail and her preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 25.
