MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis City School Board is behind the wheel of a big contract decision Monday night. It's considering a more than a $20 million busing contract and changing the current company.

On the surface, switching bus companies could save the district $200,000, but some warn it could cost more later, not to mention dozens of jobs for Memphians.

The Memphis City School Board is looking at four busing companies.

Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash reportedly supports one in particular, durham school services.

The company claims it can save the district $200,000 the first year, bring in a new bus fleet, and build two new bus terminals it says the district wouldn't have to pay for - and that's just part of the offer.

However, Durham wants a 2.5 percent increase each year.

First Student currently serves the district.

While Durham appears to narrowly beat First Student on price, First Student makes more financial contributions to the school district.

Some school board members say there's not a clear frontrunner, meaning it could be a long night as the board debates.
