Memphis, Tn - If you’re not a member of Facebook, you soon might be in the minority.
The social media giant has been re-equating friends and creating new ones for years. And now, with 3 party applications your information is even more readily available.
Starla Schuh is a Facebook user with an application on her cell phone that allows all of her 1,000 plus friends to see exactly where she is, and when she is there. “I don’t know all the people on my Facebook,” she says. “My friends are like why do you put where you are? It’s like whatever. I don’t think about it like some people call me and say stalking made easy.”
Steve Shular with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says giving up too much information to so many people is not a good idea. “There are many people that get on Facebook specifically to try and find information about people.”
Shular says, while there’s nothing wrong with social networking sites, some of those so called “friends,” might not have your best interests at heart. “We don't recommend that anybody get on there and give there specific information of where they may be you don't know whose on the other end of that conversation.”
