Memphis, Tn - Sunday afternoon, on the eleventh floor of the Pinnacle apartment complex on Bellevue, terror struck a one month old child.
Memphis Police say just before noon they received a domestic call from inside the high rise. When they arrived they found the infant inside this dumpster on the ground floor.
Family members say it all started when the boy's father without permission came to the apartment complex and began fighting with the mother. Destiny Higgins says when the mother went to call police, the suspect took the baby and tossed him down this garbage chute.
Higgins says, "He threw the baby down, he threw the baby down."
When Memphis Police arrived they were unable to locate the suspect and dispatched air support to aid in the search. The infant was taken to Le Bonheur in non-critical condition, where we are told he is recovering.
But, friends say this act of violence could have easily been deadly and ask why the suspect wasn't behind bars in the first place.
Higgins says, "It was already known prior that this is what he wanted to do, two months ago he said this there was a police report taken and everything back then they knew why is he still even out here."
