MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Frayser community has taken its "No Baby Campaign" to the studio, added some beats, and some sound lyrics. The result is a hip hop banger.

In Brief:

-New campaign called ‘No Baby Campaign’ in Frayser.
-Campaign writes rap song encouraging teens to wait to have sex.
-Frayser High school made national headlines when stories broke about 90 teens being pregnant.

They say music has a way of moving you and now the Frayser community is hoping these hip hop lyrics will play a role in keeping kids in the classroom and away from the bedroom.

The original song with sound lyrics was produced by Youth Visions, a non-profit group that discourages sex before marriage. This is part of the “No Baby Campaign” which launched back in January after news became viral that 90 Frayser teens were pregnant. The topic was even a parody on FOX's TV show Glee.

"Our kids listen to rap and hip hop. We wanted to speak in a language in which they could understand but give them a positive message," said Marron Thomas, the Executive Director, Youth Visions, Inc.

21-year old Jelisha Lewis who graduated from Central High School, provided the chorus. She says she chose to jump on board the “No Baby Campaign” after watching her classmates’ struggle being teen moms.

" So I was thinking about hey let's reach out the younger generation and why not get on the campaign and say no baby," said Lewis.

Thomas says the teen pregnancy epidemic is no laughing matter and says he and Lewis both believe the song will be a hit.

"It's sort of like a positive peer pressure and so when the kids see other kids singing this song and saying I'm waiting until marriage," said Lewis.

"A lot of kids start off listening to the beats and if the beats are catchy, then they go from the beats to listening to the words," said Thomas.

Youth Visions are hoping these words are ones that resonate with teens.

Thomas says he plans to take the video to churches and organizations and is supposed to shoot a video to go along with the rap.
