BARTLETT, Tenn. - Police in Bartlett say two people have confessed to stealing storm drain grates.

Police Inspector Jeff Cox stated that a tip led police to the suspects and the case against them will be presented to a Shelby County grand jury. Their names were not released.

Cox said the pair are suspects in the theft of about 40 grates.

Vice President Monte Panitz of Sims Metal Management locally says reputable scrap metal companies won't buy the heavy cast iron grates because it's obvious they're stolen.
