MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The popular Tire Redemption Program will resume on Monday, March 8, Memphis City Council Chairman Harold Collins and Shelby County Commissioner Steve Mulroy announced Wednesday.
The Tire Redemption Program, aimed at reducing the amount of community blight associated with illegal dumping of waste tires, will allow citizens to redeem unwanted tires for $1 per tire.
Residents of Shelby County with valid Tennessee identification verifying that they are a Shelby County resident may bring waste tires to Macs Tires located at 3000 Elvis Presley beginning Monday, March 8, 2010 at 7:00 a.m.
Changes have been made to the program limiting the amount of tires allowable per trip and per day. Individuals will be limited to 100 tires per trip and a maximum of 2 trips per day to the facility.
The hours of operation for this program are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The program will be closed in the event of inclement weather.
