NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Memphis Mayor A C Wharton and Shelby County Mayor Joe Ford were in Nashville Wednesday fighting for funding for The Med.

The mayors met with Governor Phil Bredesen for about two hours discussing the future of the cash strapped Regional Medical Center.

Wharton didn't go into details about what the group and the governor discussed.

"We had a good meeting, that's all I can say," said Wharton. "I hope you can respect that."

The hospital needs at least $32 million to get it out of the red.

Over the past month, members of the Tennessee General Assembly have toured The Med, looking at how it functions and trying to figure out a cost cutting plan.
