MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The former director of the Memphis Animal Shelter was officially taken into custody in Shelby County Thursday.
59-year old Ernest Alexander was released from an Albuquerque, New Mexico jail Wednesday to face felony animal cruelty charges in Memphis.
He was indicted on multiple charges last month stemming from the deaths of three terriers at the Memphis Animal Shelter while he served as director.
Two others charged in connection with the case, Tina Quattlebaum and Angela Middleton, are currently out on bond.
