Decision Pending on Effie Fire Mom's Mental State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The mother of two young boys who died in an October 2009 house fire on Effie Street is expected to be released from a mental hospital this week.

Melodia Dunn has spent several months undergoing a mental evaluation after the death of her sons.

The boys, ages two and three years old, died while alone in the home when the fire started. Police say Dunn left the children home alone while she ran errands.

Dunn is charged with Reckless Homicide and Aggravated Child Neglect. A judge's decision is pending on whether she is fit to stand trial.
