MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The American Idol judges handed-out more golden tickets in the home of the golden gate bridge. Before that, they found some stars with Mid-South connections a little closer to our home. Melissa Scheffler tells us about another idol hopeful ready to make it big!

A "golden ticket" to Hollywood knocked Perry Johnson out with excitement. When he came to, the next thing on his mind was spreading the good news to his loved ones.

"I can't believe this just happened. Momma, I'm going to Hollywood.”

Over-joyed, the only way Perry could wrap-up this moment was with a man hug with Ryan Seacrest.

Perry rode the rollercoaster of emotions after his time in front of the American Idol judges and he kept his spirits high following the good news for the production crew.

FOX 13 was waiting for Perry once he was done taping. He was still riding that high and we were too!

Perry was able to give us a play-by-play.

(Reporter) "Who said yes?" (Perry) "Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson said yes and JLO was like: I like you, I like your voice, it's just iffy and I was like, everybody else said yes."

In the 23-year-old insurance salesman's hands were the crumbled "golden ticket" and his direct flight to a chance at stardom.

"This is my future. This is my future. This is my career. Hollywood here I come."

It's far from his home in Hot Springs, Arkansas and his birthplace of Memphis but he needs both communities to get far in this competition.

"Memphis, vote for me. Perry Johnson. See you all soon!”
