MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The weekend before Turkey Day is when Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc. (NCC) will host its second annual Chicken Strut, a family fun-walk and fundraiser, benefiting NCC’s Christmas Basket Program, which provides chicken and other foods for 12,000 families in need each year.

Participants will start strutting at 9 AM at NCC, 785 Jackson Avenue. The route goes from the front doors of NCC heading West on Jackson until it dead ends at Front Street, where participants will go South to the Auction Street bridge (and over the bridge if they have that much strut in them) and back, ending at the NCC gymnasium for food (chicken of course), fun games and activities.

Participants should arrive early to check in, use the restroom, etc. If pre-registered, you will simply need to check in the day of the event to receive your bag and t-shirt. If not pre-registered, you will need to register the day of so don’t forget your entry fee! Also, don’t forget to allow time to take your bag back to your car unless you plan to carry it along the course…

Restrooms will be available at NCC only. This walk is not a race and intended for fun only. There will be no “winners” because everyone is a winner by participating and contributing to NCC. There will, however, be contests such as “The Funky Chicken,” “The Best Looking Chicken Legs,” a Chicken Soup Eating Contest, and more!
