Arlington, Tn - It is now official. The final reading of an ordinance authorizing a ballot measure in the creation of a municipal school district in Arlington has passed.

Now, the decision is in the hands of the voters.

The City of Arlington is the first Shelby County Suburban Municipality to move this to a public vote. The special Election will be held May 10 of this year.

Arlington will also ask voters to support a half cent sales tax to support the school district.

Mayor of Arlington Mike Wissman, who is also on the Shelby County Unified School Board, said today if the voters of Arlington vote yes on a Schools System, he hopes are those students who are already in the school system that do not live in Arlington will be able to continue their education with the Arlington School System.
