5,000 Olympic Condoms For Sale

A man snapped up 5,000 condoms left over from the athletes at the Olympic Village at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. That collection can now be yours, as it is one of the centerpieces of an auction of Olympic memorabilia.

The condoms, labeled with the Olympic motto, "faster, higher, stronger," are left-overs from the 100,000 condoms distributed for free to athletes at the Olympics, the China Daily said Thursday .

The entire lot of 5,000 must be purchased by one buyer at the "Exceptional Auction of China Sport Collection" on November 29, with the bidding to begin at 5,000 yuan (730 dollars), or one yuan per condom reported AFP .

The BBC reported that the sale will also include a torch autographed by Brazilian soccer legend Pele and a Chinese medicine case from the 1936 Games

If the Olympic condoms are similar to those available in the U.S. users should not have to worry about the performance of the prophylactic.

Consumer Reports recently tested 20 latex condoms brands and found that all of them, with one exception, are a fine choice. The consumer group purchased more than 15,500 condoms and tested them for strength, reliability, leakage, and package integrity.

CR noted that the Night Light Glow in the Dark condom had more holes than it should have, however, this model did live up to its illumination claim.
