DES MOINES, Iowa - Frigid temperatures are icing the Upper Midwest today in the wake of a wintry blast that hit from the Midwest to New England.
This week's storm is being blamed for at least 17 deaths.
Today, commuters from Des Moines to Chicago are being warned of icy roads and morning temperatures that could reach 10 degrees at their warmest.
The National Weather Service says the wind chill could dip as low as minus 25 in parts of Wisconsin and Iowa. In Des Moines, that would make today's predicted high near 9 degrees feel like 25 below zero.
Things will be a little warmer in New England, which was also pounded by heavy snow and strong winds yesterday. Temperatures are expected to hover around freezing.
Forecasters say the storm will move off the coast of Maine by tonight.
