Memphis, Tn - "It's a scary incident whenever you wake up and you have a stranger in your home," said Officer Karen Rudolph with the Memphis Police Department.

The 19 year-old Whitehaven woman who had it happen to her early Tuesday morning says she heard a noise first, then suddenly her bedroom door opened. There, standing in her room she says, was 19 year-old Marcadus Walker who police say got violent when he realized she was home.

"It was reported that he did jump on top of her and cover her face up."

That's when the police report says Walker began choking her, but she fought back by kicking him.

"And that's when he got up and fled."

As Walker ran off, the victim was able to get a good description of his car and a good look at the second suspect. Turns out she recognized him from her neighborhood. Police say his name is Montrez Thomas. He's 21. The say the victim heard Thomas in the home trying to leave as she struggled with Walker.

"When she checked her house out she noticed that there were some items that were gathered up as if the suspects were going to carry them out," Officer Rudolph said.

Only, it appears they're alleged plan was foiled by the victim's presence. They never made off with the two televisions police say they'd taken from the den and a bedroom and put by the backdoor. One of the 4 diamond rings police say they did end up making off with was brought to a pawn shop. The two were caught near "Cash America Pawn" in the 4600 block of Elvis Presley. However, according to police, the pawn shop didn't offer enough for the ring, so there was no sale.

Walker is charged with aggravated burglary, assault, and theft of property over $1,000. Thomas is charged aggravated burglary and theft of property over $1,000.
