Ark. Panel Holding 'West Memphis Three' Discussion

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Attorneys and advocates are getting together to discuss the case of three men who went free last week years after they were convicted in the 1993 murders of three Arkansas Cub Scouts.

The Clinton School of Public Service and the Arkansas Times will host a panel discussion about the men, known as the West Memphis Three, on Thursday evening in Little Rock.

Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley were freed Friday following an unusual legal maneuver. Their original convictions were set aside and they pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

They were set free in exchange for the 18 years they've already served. The men were also able to maintain their claims of innocence.

Echols was originally sentenced to die. Baldwin and Misskelley were sentenced to life in prison.
