MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis City School students will have a cool new ride, come fall.
The school board rolled out a four year, $17 million contract for a new fleet of school buses from Durham School Services. One of the new buses was on site at Thursday's meeting for members of the board to tour.
It has three security cameras and links up digitally to a central dispatch. The bus also includes air conditioning for the first time.
"They're well maintained, very sound vehicles. I think, I know the students of the Memphis city school system will enjoy riding these busses," said Chester Jenkins, the Area General Manager of Durham School Services.
140 busses for the new fleet have already been delivered to Memphis City Schools for the 2010-2011 school year.
More are expected each week.
