Memphis, Tn - Thousands of people have now applied for just 300 positions on the American Queen, the largest river boat in the nation.
Tuesday saw a big job fair at the Cook Convention Center.
The American Queen will be cruising out of the port of Memphis this spring. Thousands have applied online for jobs on board the huge river boat and hundreds more applied at the day long job fair.
"It's an opportunity of a lifetime. Who would not want to get a chance to go work on the river?" asked job hunter Dewey McAdoo.
A real go getter, Dewey means business and if he lands a job it could mean big bucks.
"We call it our forced savings plan, you work 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off. But, if you're a recent college graduate, it's great because we provide three meals a day a place to live, you don't have any expenses, no rent, car, no cable, ect. And, when the step off the boat the have a check waiting for them for about 42 hundred dollars less taxes," said John Waggoner, Pres. Chair. Great American Steamboat Co.
