Local Companies Looking to Hire

Memphis, Tn - According to the U.S. Department of Labor the unemployment rate for the Memphis metro is 8.8 percent, ranking us the 34th highest in the nation.

But with some very attractive job opportunities, some major companies are looking to change that.

Lowe's has announced they're looking to fill 800 seasonal jobs here in the Memphis area. They want to fill those jobs now and applicants should be ready to work 20 to 25 hours a week from spring through summer.

Electrolux is also searching for an experienced work force. The company that broke ground in Memphis last summer is looking to fill 1,200 positions by 2014. Many of those jobs are currently open to be applied for.

The Great American Steam Boat Company is also looking for applicants. The ship sets sail from Memphis April 27th, but the company is looking to fill 300 full time jobs. They're also holding a job fair February 21st from 7am to 7pm at the Cook Convention Center.

And Service Master has announced throughout their company base, they're looking to fill 190 jobs in Memphis.
