Jackson, Ms - Students at Brinkley Middle School in Jackson, Mississippi had a warm welcome for the first lady Wednesday afternoon....a welcome like no other according to Mississippi first lady Marsha Barbour.
"No one ever yelled this loud for my husband," said Mrs. Barbour.
But Mrs. Barbour and her husband, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, shared in the students' enthusiasm as Michelle Obama visted the Magnolia state, promoting her "Let's Move" campaign, aimed at ending childhood obesity.
"It's all about us getting up," Mrs. Obama said. "Too many kids aren't getting the exercise they need."
There are four points of focus in Mrs. Obama's national campaign: easy to read nutritional information, increased physical activity, easier access to healthy foods and personal responsibilty.
"I need your help. Has the first lady ever asked you for a favor?"
But parents and students say they're ready to help the first lady and her message hit close to home.
"I don't eat a lot of vegetables," said Amber Stewart, a student at Brinkley Middle School.
Terri Smith, a Brinkley Middle mom says, "I'm always encouraging my kids to eat healthier and I think with her supporting this, it will help."
