MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Love don't cost a thing, as the song goes. But, Bargain Thursday shows you where to have your wedding and reception without paying for the site. That's right, FREE.
We found several free places to hold your ceremony or reception. We'll start with the Japanese Garden by City Hall in Bartlett. It is beautiful and free. Call City Hall to reserve your date.
Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery is a beautiful place. Last year, at least 47 brides were married there. And, it's absolutely free.
This cemetery is one of the most unlikely, yet spectacular, sites to get married in the Mid-South. You could call it the 'Circle of Life.' Weddings breathe new life into the heart of this historic cemetery.
Manager Jason Dixon said, "There is no cost, whatsoever. If they would like for us to set up a tent and chairs we'll certainly do that... at no cost."
There is the Crystal Grotto, God's Garden, and the Koi Pond. Many beautiful sites are around the 200-acre park. Inside the funeral home, you can even reserve the Fireside Chapel or another reception room. They will move the somber trappings out and your flowers and decorations in. And, it's all free. You just have to reserve your date and time.
Back to Bartlett, where there are at least 2 more options for free weddings. Try the pretty Gazebo at Bledsoe Park. You can reserve the entire park for your celebration.
Or, there's the larger and decidedly rustic Freeman Smith Pavilion. This park is in the Reserve area off Brunswick Road. Call now to reserve your special site. It is free, but you must reserve the space.
Bledsoe Park is at 2863 Bartlett Road, at Stage Road near the CSX Railroad. The Freeman Smith Pavilion is on the east side of Brunswick Road, north of the Craven Road intersection.
