Mid-South Mom Wins Idol Sweepstakes

Tuesday and Wednesday night Kim Walsh of Arlington will be part of the American Idol audience. Walsh found out Friday she'd won an all expense trip for two to both live shows.

"We already got seats. Row 7, section D, which we think are pretty good," said Kim Walsh by phone from her Los Angeles hotel room.

Walsh left Memphis Monday and landed in LA with a limo waiting. Her husband suggested she take friend Melissa Huffman of Germantown

"He was the first to say ask one of your friends, you'll have more fun," said Walsh.

Walsh signed up for the sweepstakes online in April. When she got the call she'd won the Wirefly - AT&T "Take Me To Idol" sweepstakes last week she was in line with her kids at McDonald's.

"I thought it was a joke actually. I was like, no, who is this?" said Walsh.

By winning, Walsh beat out 24,000 other people. As an avid idol fan she says she can't wait to see the show up close.

"I don't think I have ever missed an episode since it started airing ever. Every season my whole family, it's like family night at our house. We don't miss American Idol," she said.

Her friend Melissa is also a huge fan. She tells us she's already trying to repay Walsh for the chance to share in such a special Idol trip.

"I got her a gift and kind of laughed about it as a thank you because really there's nothing to thank her for bringing me along on this, we are so excited," Melissa Huffman said.

Walsh and Huffman are already touring and getting a taste of the town and celebrity stardom before they see their Idol superstars Tuesday.
