MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Lauren Johnson is an early riser! Her alarm goes off at 2am! You can wake up early on weekday mornings to watch her co-anchor Fox 13's Good Morning Memphis show with Melissa Scheffler. In addition to anchoring, she is also the Midsouth's only television health reporter.
Lauren's health reporting has been nominated for three regional Emmy awards. In addition to health reporting, she has covered other major news stories, including the trial for Jesse Dotson, convicted of the worst mass murder in Memphis history.
Before moving to Memphis, Lauren worked as a feature reporter in Orlando, Florida at Central Florida News 13. Her duties there allowed her to wrestle gators, hanglide through the skies of The Sunshine State, and report on issues affecting kids. Prior to her work there, Lauren interned at several news organizations in major TV markets, including Greenville, South Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia, and most notably with Diane Sawyer at ABC News in New York.
Lauren received her bachelor's degree from Furman University, where she also ran track. She was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where all of her family still lives, including her identical twin nieces. Lauren is a proud pet owner. She adopted her babies from the Memphis Animal Shelter. The mutts were found abandoned during a rainstorm in an Arkansas parking lot, so her nieces named them Rainey and Stormy.
