MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Emmy award winning journalist, Jill Monier has been breaking stories for Fox 13 since 2006. She's now the weekend anchor.
In 2010, Jill won an Investigative Reporting Emmy for uncovering corruption in a small Arkansas town. She's been nominated for Emmy's for General Assignment and Feature Reporting as well.
Jill has covered major national news stories over the course of her career, including the Columbia Shuttle disaster, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the 2008 Presidential debates. She's gone to death row to interview inmates Damien Echols of the West Memphis Three and Jessie Dotson, who was convicted of Memphis' worst mass murder.
Jill's stories have appeared on the Fox News Channel, CNN and CourtTV.
Before joining FOX13, Jill was the weekend anchor in Decatur, Illinois where she covered the shooting death of a security guard inside the state Capitol and the aftermath of a tornado that ripped through downtown Springfield.
Jill started her career as a reporter for KBIM/KRQE in Roswell/Albuquerque, New Mexico where she won 6 Associated Press awards and 2 New Mexico Broadcasters Awards for her reporting.
While in New Mexico, Jill went inside a maximum security prison for a series on gangs. She was on the front lines during wildfires and broke a national story about a company, under investigation for hoarding illegal warheads inside a bunker at the Roswell airport.
Jill is a graduate of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She's originally from Princeton, Illinois where much of her family still lives.
Jill is the mother of 2 little girls. In their free time, Jill and her husband Nick like to try different Memphis restaurants and root for all the Memphis sports teams, the Chicago Cubs and of course, da' Bears.
