Weather Camp

FOX13 will be hosting the second annual FREE Mid-South Weather Camp on Saturday, August 4th from 9:00 am until noon at the Agricenter!

 

We’re inviting parents and/or guardians to bring their 2nd – 6th graders for a Saturday morning of weather excitement. Campers will be enjoying hands-on weather experiments & demonstrations, and they’ll be able to visit with the FOX13 weather team! Parents or their designated chaperone must accompany campers at all times during the event. No unattended campers will be permitted.

 

Campers will also see exhibits and interactive experiences with our hosts: the National Weather Service, the FedEx Meteorology Department, the Agricenter; the Shelby County Health Department, and the Shelby County Office of Preparedness.

Can I drop off my kids at the camp?
No, all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at least 18 year of age or older. Designated chaperones may bring a maximum of 5 children. Parents/chaperones are solely responsible for their children during the event.


When and where is the camp?
The FOX13 Weather Camp is Saturday, August 4th from 9:00am until noon at Agricenter International, located at 7777 Walnut Grove at the corner of Germantown Parkway.


How much does the camp cost?
It's free! Just make sure you submit a registration form for each camper by August 2nd. Registration is limited and will be on a first come/first served basis.


Who can attend?
This camp is open to kids in 2nd through 6th grade during the 2012/2013 school year.


What will kids learn at the camp?
Camp attendees will learn a variety of things, including the introductory basics to weather, with the help of interactive activities and hands-on experiments. The FOX13 Weather Authority and local experts will be on hand to answer questions from the novice to the advanced.


What do campers need to bring?
Nothing but themselves, an adult and a willingness to learn some awesome weather stuff! Plus, remember your camera so you can take pictures with FOX13's Weather Authority.


Is parking free?
Absolutely. Parking is available directly behind the Agricenter, accessible from both Germantown Parkway and Walnut Grove - just look for the signs.


Will there be free stuff?
Yes, but quantities are limited. Please register by August 4th so camp organizers can best accommodate those attending.


Will there be food served?
There will be a food court where snacks can be purchased.
